The dental implant process – a real-world timeline
Stage 1: Consultation & Treatment Planning (1 visit)
- •3D X-ray (CBCT) scan to assess your bone density
- •The dentist plans the exact implant placement
- •Consultation on implant options and costs
Stage 2: Implant Placement (1 visit – ~60 minutes)
- •Local anesthesia — discomfort during the procedure is kept to a minimum
- •The titanium post is placed into the jawbone
- •Suturing and placement of a healing cap
- •After 24 hours: you can eat soft, cool foods
- •After 1 week: sutures are removed
Stage 3: Healing & Bone Integration (3–6 months)
- •The titanium post fuses with your jawbone (osseointegration)
- •You go about daily life as usual — no impact on work
- •Follow-up check-ups every 4–6 weeks
Stage 4: Fitting the Final Crown (2–3 visits)
- •Dental impressions are taken and your porcelain crown is crafted
- •The abutment and permanent crown are fitted
- •Done: you can eat and drink completely normally
